My friends Colette and Ewan got married at the weekend and, I have to say, it was quite the best wedding I have been to in a long, long time.
The reason the wedding was such a fantastic one wasn’t just because it was a brilliant day, but because it was the coming together of two people who simply could not have met without God.
Colette was a Scouse single mum with three daughters and a lively past, while Ewan was a lorry driver from Wigan with kids of his own from a previous marriage. Together, they are a joy to behold and a constant reminder of how incredible God is.
For all our talk of having God to talk to at any time, knowing how blessed we are and having such a more wonderful life because of His presence in it, even Christians get cheesed off with life sometimes.
We still have bad days, we still get angry at piddling little things which really shouldn’t bother us and we still worry unnecessarily over things we can’t do anything about.
And it’s at times like this that I think about Colette and Ewan and quite honestly, it’s impossible to stay angry.
